General Information

The Sturt Sabres Basketball Club caters for basketball players of any age and ability. For beginners our successful Aussie Hoops program is a great introduction to basketball for 5-9 year olds. If a young player is looking for a local competition, we hold a Saturday afternoon for 8-15 years called City South Domestic competition in the local area which is low cost and a very friendly compeititon. Training clinics run by Sturt Coaches are held during the week for those interested. For information of any of these activities please contact the City South Liaision Officer at the Sturt office during business hours. For players who want to play at a higher level, Sturt offers the most professional and successful junior program in South Australia. Sturt enters our top men's and women's teams in the Australian Basketball Association (ABA) Central Conference. The season runs from April to September with matches on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons. Come and see our elite basketballers, the vast majority of whom have graduated from Sturt juniors, and many of whom now play in the Central Basketball League (CABL) or Women's National Basketball League (WNBL).

Sturt offers teams for players who have graduated from juniors, but may not be willing or able to play in our ABL teams and who want to continue their association with the club by playing in our senior teams. Please contact the Senior Program Manager for more information.
